Having lived in Los Angeles for a year, I like to escape the city life on the weekends and retreat to a seaside resort city; Laguna Beach.
Laguna Beach has got to be my favorite beachside city in California.
Located midway between Los Angeles and San Diego, this seven-mile stretch of sand and surf offers a year-round retreat for art lovers, nature enthusiasts and beachgoers. It includes 27 beaches and coves. It is bordered by the Pacific Ocean on the southwest, Crystal Cove State Park on the northwest, Laguna Woods on the northeast, Aliso Viejo and Laguna Niguel on the east, and Dana Point on the southeast. The natural landscape of beaches, rocky bluffs and craggy canyons have been noted as sources of inspiration.
My top 3 beach picks are:
- Crystal Cove – for Scuba Diving/ Snorkeling
- Shaw’s Cove – for the natural tide pools!
- Main Beach – a touristy spot with boardwalk, shops and amenities. Great for photo ops. (Very much like Santa Monica)
Laguna Beach sunsets are also some of the best I’ve ever seen.
Very picturesque cotton candy colored skies and tall palm trees.
I can see myself returning to Laguna Beach over and over again.
If you’re visiting Los Angeles, I highly recommend renting a car and driving down to Orange County.
The OC has so much to offer besides the beach. Cities like Irvine, Anaheim (Disneyland), Santa Ana, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Tustin, Mission Viejo and Orange are some of my other favorites.
